WNPR rescues in Hampton

HAMPTON -- The Williamsburg Native Plant Rescue Team has finished a series of rescues at the Commander Shepard Boulevard extension site, off Magruder Boulevard.
The volunteer group worked at the site for more than a month to save many of its plants, shrubs and small trees, slated to be destroyed when site work began late March.

William & Mary Wildflower Refuge

WNPR established The William & Mary Wildflower Refuge and maintained it consistently through the fall of 2010. During this time members of WNPR planted countless rescued plants, maintained the gazebo, removed trash, and weeded the planting areas in the refuge.

In a three-year process, WNPR removed English Ivy, which had overgrown the area.
