WNPR rescues in Hampton
HAMPTON -- The Williamsburg Native Plant Rescue Team has finished a series of rescues at the Commander Shepard Boulevard extension site, off Magruder Boulevard.
The volunteer group worked at the site for more than a month to save many of its plants, shrubs and small trees, slated to be destroyed when site work began late March.
The team worked in cooperation with Hampton City officials as well as staff from the nearby National Aerospace Institute, especially Lise Schioler, who has coordinated a number of rescues in the area. Many of the plants will likely be replanted at the institute around the corner from the site, since the habitats are alike.
To register for future planting, contact Lise at 636-8240 or Cortney at 291-1500 or clangley@plantrescue.org.
